REVO BIO

Thermoplastic polyurethanes produced using renewable resources whose supply chain has been carefully selected so as not to harm the food chain and to be free from genetically modified components.

THE IMPACT CATEGORIES

For the main formulations of Revobio products, specific environmental impact analyzes were conducted through the LCA (life cycle analysis) methodology regulated by the ISO14044 standard. This methodology makes it possible to calculate the reduction of the environmental impact in the use of these products of the same grades on a fossil basis.
In particular, different categories of impact were analysed. The main ones mentioned below:

The global warming potential, better known as climate change (expressed as CO2 reduction)

The reduction of human toxicity, i.e. the ability of a substance to accumulate in the tissues of living beings as a food source for humans (expressed as 1,4-dichlorobenzene equivalent/kg of emissions)

The reduction of photochemical oxidation, i.e. the mixture of pollutants that form in the lower layers of the atmosphere due to the action of sunlight on emissions deriving from human activities (expressed in kg of ethylene equivalents/kg of emission)

The reduction of acidification, i.e. the lowering of the pH in the atmosphere or in water which can cause fish mortality and can also have repercussions on human health (expressed in kg of SO2 equivalents/kg of emission)

* data obtained from an LCA study on REVOBIO products from renewable sources with a hardness of 70ShA compared to the same fossil-based product with the same hardness. For further details, please contact our Sustainability team.
